Dark, full-bodied and dense, this is a red blend of mainly monastrell (a.k.a. mourvèdre) and cabernet sauvignon, so expect some astringent tannins. Chalky and sticky on the outside, with juicy black fruits in the centre, Castano’s old-vine Coleccion also dishes up notes of licorice and woody spice. Decant if you can and serve with red meats. Available in Ontario.
