Black Creek Pale Ale, Ontario Add to ...

  • Rating 91
  • Price $3.55/500 ml

Where other craft operations boast of age-old techniques and traditional recipes, Black Creek Brewery is a genuine throwback. Located in Black Creek Pioneer Village, a 30-acre historical theme park on the northwest edge of Toronto, it replicates the brewing techniques of the 1860s, right down to the wooden barrels used in fermentation and the linen cloth used to filter out solids. Wouldn’t you know, the beer is really good. I love the brewery’s porter and I very much like this pale ale. It’s hazy copper in colour, with strong IPA-style bitterness, a malty core that’s reminiscent of Scotch whisky, plus caramel, floral and refreshing pine-like notes. This is the second Black Creek offering to be released through LCBO stores in Ontario. In addition, you can buy it onsite at the brewery, where you can also take a tour and sample the other 19th-century brews ( blackcreekbrewery.ca).
