On the pricy side, yes, but this may be worth a premium because it’s not a run-of-the mill Canadian offering like chardonnay or riesling. Chenin blanc, the sweet-tart white grape that made Vouvray famous, gets a compelling interpretation from this winery on the Golden Mile in the South Okanagan. Medium-bodied but big in flavour, it’s dry (unlike some Vouvray), with a silky texture, notes of spice, buttered mango and stone fruit, a hint of vanilla from well-controlled oak and a fresh finish. Available from the winery, Road13vineyards.com.
