Wine review: Francis Coppola Diamond Collection Ivory Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2011, California

Cabernet sauvignon
Food Pairing
Steak on the grill

A star director, a collection of diamonds and some ivory – this red sure has glitz and specialness in its name. It's a crowd-pleaser. Full-bodied and very ripe, it shows a youthful grapy quality, with a supple, polished texture carrying flavours of currant, raspberry and a cabernet-franc-style herbal essence. Oh, and tobacco and black pepper for good measure. Your populist steak-on-the-grill wine is here. $24.99 in B.C., various prices in Alta., $25.03 in Man.
