Strap yourself in, this is big. Concentrated and thick in texture, it's a classic southern Rhône blend of grenache (55 per cent) with syrah and mourvèdre, delivering marvellous complexity and structure for the money. As in: luscious dark berries and plum blasted with lavender, thyme and black pepper against a smoky backdrop. It feels stronger than its 14.5-per-cent alcohol declaration, with a touch of medicinal heat on the finish, but that's ripe, luscious southern Rhône grenache for you. Available in Ontario.
