Here's another compelling chenin blanc from Quails' Gate, where the variety is one of this excellent winery's calling cards. Medium-bodied and very dry, it displays a silky mouth feel owing to partial fermentation in seasoned oak barrels. The flavours hint at tangerine, grapefruit and peach, with a nip of spice and a tart-tangy edge. The 2015 contains 10 per cent sauvignon blanc for added zip and tension. Marvellous, and ideal for simple shellfish dishes, including oysters on the half-shell. Available in B.C. Liquor Stores or direct from quailsgate.com.
