Full-bodied and firm, this is ripe, warm aglianico from southern Italy's Basilicata region. The blackberry-jam core is supported by tight, chalky tannins and joined by a strong savoury essence suggesting chinotto soda pop, earth and leather. Decant it prior to serving. It should cellar well for up to a decade. Available in Ontario at the above price, $19.99 in British Columbia.
