Montgo Old Vines Monastrell 2015, Spain

Full, smooth and ripe, registering 15-per-cent alcohol, this is well-rounded red from Spain's bargain Jumilla region. Matured in a combination of French and American oak for six months, it shows blackberry jam with cocoa, leafy underbrush and a toasty overtone, held up by a subtle tannic backbone. Available in Ontario.
