Nadja mosaic by Blazys Gérard and Mosaique Surface.Graphique2

The Atelier collection by Montreal interior-design studio BlazysGérard (in collaboration with Mosaïque Surface) is distinctly art deco – in fact, the team spent months walking through San Francisco, New York, Miami and Montreal to take in the architecture and design elements that eventually found their way into the 20-pattern line of mosaic surfacing in stone, metal and Venetian glass.

"We sensed a revived interest in this aesthetic from our peers and other creative fields and felt is was time to act and recall this beautiful courant," says principal Alexandre Blazys.

But there's also a taste of classic Hollywood and the fashion industry: The Nadja motif, for example, is crafted in Calacatta Oro marble to be "feminine and glamorous," with brass metal inlays adding texture.

"It is named after Nadja Auermann, a famous nineties model [who] has legs that stretched out for days," says Blazys. "Her grace and elegance had a lasting impression on my imagination growing up."
