The question: I want to have vegetables in my ornamental garden. Can I plant them with the annuals and perennials that are already there?

The answer: . This has become a really attractive way to grow and present vegetables, especially if you are growing them in the front yard or along a boulevard. Be sure, though, that you only eat vegetables that are planted 25 feet away from a main road.

In terms of incorporation, mix the really ornamental ones such as red kale and Brussels sprouts with perennials of the same height. Use lettuces and crops such as arugula as edgers and groundcovers respectively.
