For sale: Look inside Brian Mulroney's $7.95-million Montreal mansion

Brian Mulroney has put his Montreal mansion up for sale with a $7.95-million price tag. The listing describes the five-bedroom, five-bathroom home in upscale Westmount as a house for “a buyer who seeks an elegant home and privacy.” There is a pool, a wine fridge and a walk-in commercial fridge in the basement and a safety box. However, prospective buyers are warned that the fireplaces and chimneys are sold without legal warranty with respect to their compliance with local regulations and insurance requirements. According to municipal tax records, the property was purchased in 1993 and is registered under Mr. Mulroney’s wife's name, Mila Pivnicki-Mulroney. It is evaluated at $4.1-million. The couple initially paid $1.675-million for the house. Mr. Mulroney will hope he has more success than Quebec Premier Pauline Marois, who put La Closerie, her 41-acre estate in the leafy community of Île-Bizard, for sale in 2009. She was asking for $8-million but only managed to sell this spring for $6.5-million.
