TAXES $2,502 (2014)

LISTING AGENT Mary Jo Vradis, Royal LePage Estate Realty

The Action: The historic family homestead of a brother of Scarborough's first settler sits on a winding street lined with private residences, such as this original bungalow right across from Thomson Park. With the absence of other local options for sale, it was scanned by about 50 shoppers during private tours and public open houses until seven fought to present their best price.

What They Got:This nearly 60-year-old brick bungalow has a classic kitchen, fireside living room and dining area with a walkout to a deck, shed, private driveway and fenced 77-by-180-foot grounds.

To retire for the night, there are three bedrooms, including one with a secondary deck and two sleeping quarters in the basement, along with a recreation room and second full bathroom.

The Agent's Take: "It's a very unique property in a prestigious part of Scarborough," says agent Mary Jo Vradis. "One of the big selling features of this neighbourhood is Thomson Park."

"It's got massive frontage and it's a very deep lot," Ms. Vradis notes. "The house has good bones, so it could be renovated or torn down."
