LISTING AGENT Kara Reed, Chestnut Park Real Estate Ltd.

The Action: Suites in the Dorchester are a coveted commodity midtown, so this two-bedroom corner suite generated a whirlwind of activity with upwards of 60 buyers passing through between private showings and two public open houses. Agent Kara Reed has sold three suites there in bidding wars, so it wasn't a surprise when two strong bids were placed on this second floor unit.

What They Got: In an Art Deco style midrise with only 75 suites, this over 900-square-foot residence displays original hardwood floors, crown mouldings and wainscoting, as well as recently updated stone kitchen counters, appliances and fixtures in the bathroom between the bedrooms.

Sunlight filters through south-facing windows in the dining area and adjacent living room with an electric fireplace.

The unit comes with a locker, parking and monthly fees of $508, but laundry facilities are shared on site.

The Agent's Take: "This is a really special building; it's one of the original conversions to condo back in the 1950s … and for a midtown location, it's one of the most affordable buildings in the whole city," says Ms. Reed. "It doesn't have a lot of flashy amenities, but it has charm, character and space."

This unit even offers a bit more than the basics. "It was a typical two-bedroom, but it had a renovated kitchen and bath," Ms. Reed adds. "[Plus] it did overlook the courtyard, so that was quite pretty."
