Calling it a "shameless theft," police in North Vancouver, B.C., are looking for a man who stole the wallet of a new mother while she was feeding her infant in a hospital maternity ward.

The RCMP say the woman left her room at Lions Gate Hospital on Monday to feed the baby and when she returned she found her wallet had been stolen from an unlocked drawer in her room.

A search found the wallet in a garbage can in the hospital, but $300 in cash was missing.

Police have released security video of the thief in hopes of catching him.

Corp. Richard De Jong calls it a "heartless crime" that targeted a new mom caring for her child.
