A Toronto man has pulled off what one YouTube commenter has called "The most 'Canadian' proposal ever!"
Jared Gaber knew that his girlfriend Stephanie Pasternak goes through a Tim Hortons drive-thru in North York to get a tea on her way to work.
So last Thursday, after clearing it with Tims head office, Gaber brought a camera crew to the location and took up his position at the drive-thru window.
"I figured a great way of surprising her would be to not only take her order but to propose to her out the drive-thru window," Gaber, who works in marketing at Rich Products of Canada, says in the video, which was posted to YouTube on Saturday.
Just as planned, Pasternak, a lawyer, arrives at the drive-thru and is shocked to see Gaber.
"You are the first woman I ever fell in love with and the last woman I ever want to be in love with. Will you spend the rest of your life with me?" he asks before presenting the ring.
Pasternak climbs half out the window and kisses him. She then comes inside the store, where there's a round of applause.
The video has since been viewed more than 70,000 times as of Wednesday afternoon.
One commenter said that Tim Hortons should pay for the wedding, while others questioned the romance of popping the question at a coffee shop.
But most have praised Gaber's efforts.
"The most 'Canadian' proposal ever! Only missing a moose! But seriously I almost teared up, this was amazing," one wrote.
