If you haven't got a jar of Allessia's La Bomba Antipasto spread in your fridge, get some. Any Italian cook worth their spaghetti will tell you that you can't make a tomato sauce without La Bomba. But even more, it's the essential condiment. I slather this spicy blend of artichokes, mushrooms, hot peppers, eggplant, olives and carrots on sandwiches instead of mustard or mayonnaise. It perks up soups and seafood, stews and scrambled eggs, and it's lovely by itself with crackers or a nice chunk of provolone. About $7 at most Italian markets or delicatessens.
