Yes, it was too good to be true. Those royal wedding-esque Disney images you've been sharing with all your Facebook friends? They were doctored.

For one thing, Cinderella's Prince wore totally different military attire than natty Prince William.

And the image of those evil stepsisters making the round was colourized to match Beatrice and Eugenie's shades of royal blue and nude. The original animation cell appears to feature mishmashes of reds for one ensemble and pale greeny blues for the others.

The doctored images are so delectable, though, some outlets are running them, knowing full well they've been altered. How do they justify it? By writing around it, as Hollywood Life has done.

"If you're looking at these photos and something seems to be off, you're right! While certain colors have been altered, the similarities are still worth pointing out! Don't you agree?"

That said, Cinderella's dress is, indeed, white, just like the now-Duchess of Cambridge's dress.

And if you dig deep enough, you can find evidence of a precedent for Beatrice's loopy hat if you search through enough Disney photos.

Okay, then. That's enough Disney imagery for this week.

Do we have to become more skeptical of the memes we love?
