Kate nixes personal dresser for royal visit to Canada

Prince William and his new bride Catherine will be coming to Canada with a pared down entourage.

According to the Daily Mail, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be travelling with just seven people, including two press secretaries, a couple of private secretaries and a hairdresser.

Catherine has declined to bring a dresser, breaking with tradition, the Daily Mail says. No doubt, fashion-watchers will be keeping an eager eye out on the outfits she puts together. She has also decided against having a lady-in-waiting, or official female companion. However, she will be bringing her hair stylist, James Pryce, during her first official overseas trip as royalty. (If you could travel with someone who could keep your bad-hair days in check, wouldn't you, too?)

The couple will be starting their 11-day North American tour in Ottawa on June 30, and will stop in Montreal, Quebec City, Charlottetown and Summerside, PEI, Yellowknife and Calgary, before heading to Los Angeles.

Among their small group of royal household staff will be Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, their private secretary, and his son, 10-year-old William, who was a pageboy at the couple's wedding, the Daily Mail reports.

"[W]'ve kept it as tight as we possibly can," Mr. Lowther-Pinkerton told the newspaper. "But we've been minded of the fact (this is) the Duchess's first tour and she needs to be properly supported so she doesn't have to worry about stuff other than core matters."

While Prince William will be giving several speeches and addresses during their visit, royal watchers may be disappointed to know that Catherine will not be speaking publicly. Mr. Lowther-Pinkerton told the Daily Mail the Duchess has made "incredible leaps and bounds" but "there is a time and a place to introduce yourself to the world of speaking."

According to the Daily Mail, the royal travel itinerary is as follows:

June 30-July 2: The couple will Ottawa and Gatineau to participate in Canada Day celebrations

July 2: They will be in Montreal for the final Saturday of the Montreal Jazz Festival
