Norwegian Cruise Line's newest ship sets sail on her inaugural cruise from New York

New York pop artist Peter Max painted the eye-popping design on the Breakaway’s hull. Max has painted a Boeing 777, but this is his first ship. The design pays tribute to the ship’s home port of New York.

The Rockettes will christen Norwegian Breakaway, members of the troupe will also run fitness and dance classes on future sailings.

Spa-goers can book an adjacent Spa Stateroom for quick access, as well as complimentary entry to the Thermal Spa.

Breakaway has the first salt room at sea in the Mandara Spa. Guests lounge in this grotto setting inhaling saline-infused air, which is believed to alleviate respiratory and skin ailments. The full service salon also offers special kid-friendly services.

Celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian created Ocean Blue, the ship’s luxury seafood restaurant. An extra fee is charged to dine here.

Norwegian’s popular Teppanyaki dining experience is easier to book – more tables have been added to the restaurant on the Breakaway.

Go bar hopping at sea. First stop is Maltings the beer and whisky bar. Then try the Ice Bar – a chilly chamber featuring ice sculptures of the NYC skyline. Guests will be given hooded coats and gloves since the room’s temperature will not rise above -8 C.
