The catch: Taxes and fees are extra and you have to book by Dec. 20 for travel through Feb. 29.

The buy: New York CityPASS gives you entrance to six top New York attractions for $79 (U.S.).

The savings: Some 51 per cent or $83.

The catch: It only includes six attractions.

Why it's worth it: You get to skip most ticket lines at the Empire State Building, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, American Museum of Natural History, MoMA (The Museum of Modern Art), Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Circle Line Cruise, Top of the Rock and Guggenheim Museum.

OFF-SEASON HOTEL DEALS

The buy: Online booking site hotels.com has a number of off-season deals for New York hotels.

The savings: From 30 to 50 per cent.

The catch: You have to book by Dec. 30 or Jan. 10 to get some of the deals.

Why it's worth it: With the offer, centrally located properties such as the W New York are available from $237 a night through March 31 and Helmsley Park Lane from $285 if you book by Jan. 10 for stays through Feb. 29.

CHEAPER FROM BUFFALO
