The latest openings and events from around the world.

Easter Island – Luxury has landed in the island's capital, Hanga Roa, with the soft opening of Hangaroa Eco Village & Spa. Situated on the town's main drag and only a kilometre from the airport, the 75-room resort appeals to travellers who want to experience the wonders of Easter Island in eco-friendly style. The overall design is inspired by the ancient dwellings of Rapa Nui, the island's native people, and includes such environmentally sound components as energy-generating solar panels and wind turbines. Rooms have free-standing clay baths, desks made from volcanic rock and terraces overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Check into the spa for a sand sauna or a dip in the outdoor Kneipp pool. hangaroa.cl

Shoes are perched on plain pedestals and include styles designed by Jason Wu, Thierry Mugler and Dame Vivienne Westwood. melissa.com.br/en/galerias

TRÈS CHIC IN PARIS

Paris - Fashion hounds seeking an haute-couture hotel stay should check into one of the junior suites at La Maison Champs Élysées. Designed by Belgian fashion designer and former Hermès creative director Martin Margiela, the minimalist bi-level suites are clutter-free, feature trompe l'oeil design (a mirrored wall and landscape mural create an illusion of a much bigger space) and include such complimentary extras as non-alcoholic drinks, in-suite iMacs and WiFi. To add to the bespoke experience, Parisian-born personal shopper and art dealer Riad Kneife is on hand to lead guests on private sprees through the antique-laden stalls of Marché aux Puces in St-Ouen, where he helps authenticate pieces and haggle down prices. designhotels.com/parisian_treasure
