IN THE HEART OF THE CAPITAL

The buy: Hotels.com's Summer Sale has excellent rates at one of Canada's most iconic hotels Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa.

The savings: Some 20 per cent with nightly room rates starting at $170.

The catch: You have to book by Aug. 12 for travel by Aug. 19.

Why it's worth it: Located between the Rideau Canal and the Parliament Buildings in the heart of Ottawa, the hotel is steps away from everything from the ByWard Market to the National Gallery of Canada and, from July 25 to Aug. 8, to performances at the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival.

KIDS FREE AT CLUB MED

The buy: Club Med is cutting the cost for families who book its all-inclusive resorts.

The savings: Children under four now stay free (it used to be under two), kids aged four to 12 are 50 per cent off (at select resorts) and ages 13 to 15 are 40 per cent off.

The catch: The children stay free offer is available at just seven of Club Med's 71 resorts, and they are located in Mexico, the Caribbean and Florida.

Why it's worth it: Club Med caters to families with children's programs designed for age groups ranging from four months to 17 years. Activities include a wide array of land and water sports, along with Le Petit Chef cooking lessons, Zumbatomic fitness and more. The Baby Welcome Program provides parents with highchairs, cribs, strollers, bottle warmers and bathtubs.

The buy: Tourism Toronto is promoting a free-night package.

The savings: The Stay 2 Nights, 3rd Night Free deal saves you 33 per cent on accommodation with packages starting at $245 for two and including tickets to one or more Toronto attractions, theatre productions or special exhibits such as the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Toronto Zoo or a performance of Cats or The Wizard of Oz.

The catch: Once booked, the entire package cannot be cancelled, refunded or exchanged.

Why it's worth it: It is designed both for visitors and residents who want to catch the Blue Jays, Taste of the Danforth, the Mesopotamia exhibit at the Royal Ontario Museum and other attractions without having to drive in and out of the city multiple times.
