The buy:Big White Ski Resort near Kelowna, B.C., has a range of specials to make skiing more affordable this winter.

The savings: Special offers include free skiing early in the season, free skiing on day of arrival if you present a WestJet boarding pass and seven days skiing and hotel for the price of five.

The catch: Free skiing ends Dec. 19 and the “Buy 5, Get 7” promotion is valid from Feb. 7 to the end of the season.

Why it’s worth it: Located in the Okanagan Valley, Big White is known for its sunny weather and dry powder and features 118 marked runs from the summit.

The buy: The AAA Four-Diamond Inn on Fifth and Club Level Suites in Naples, Fla., has a Canadian Thanksgiving special.

The savings: Two nights free.

The catch: You have to stay for seven nights, and it is available only through Oct. 15.

Why it’s worth it: This Summer Snowbird special starts at $895 (U.S.) for a seven-night stay or $2,345 for a seven-night stay in one of the Inn’s new suites at the newly redesigned hotel.

The buy: Air Tahiti Nui is offering a $99 fare to Los Angeles to connect to its flight to Tahiti from 20 cities in North America, including Toronto and Montreal.

The savings: Up to $500.

The catch: You must book by Nov. 18 for travel between Nov. 1 and Dec. 13 and between Jan. 7 and May 14.

Why it’s worth it: With the offer, a round-trip ticket to Tahiti via Los Angeles is available for $1,513 and includes a free stopover in Los Angeles on the way to the South Pacific or on the way back.
