One captivating image a day, the reason it was chosen and how you can shoot similar pictures.

Photo tip for May 10: By using an extremely slow shutter speed the fog looks like flowing water. Try doing long exposures of 30 sec to a couple of minutes using a tripod to create a smooth flow of whatever is moving through your image.

Photo tip for May 9: Using a slow shutter speed the photographer is able to create a feeling of movment in the table tennis players. Try using a slow shutter speed when things are moving through your frame.

Photo tip for May 8: The warm light from the sunset really makes this image pop off the page. Try shooting 30 minutes before sunset or at sunrise for some really warm soft light.

Photo tip for May 7: The model stands out against the white background while the silhouettes add a graphic element to the image. Using silhouettes in the foreground is a great way to turn a falt picure into something more interesting.

Photo tip for May 4: Ali Azimian was experimenting with street photography in Ottawa when he walked by a restaurant in the ByWard Market. His photo of a chef inside was selected as the best submission on the theme of people at work. Why we chose it: The wide angle shot gives the viewer a great look into the kitchen, capturing the atmosphere perfectly. Shooting through the window adds another layer to the picture with the street scene imposed over the main subject.
