According to the NWFP authorities and the UN, at least three million internally displaced persons (IDPs) have now been registered as a result from recent fighting and on-going military operations against the Taliban. The Taliban have fled the Pakistani army's advance on the main town in the Swat Valley, according to the Pakistan military. The refugees have fled from Swat, Buner, and Lower Dir facing extremely harsh living conditions in the searing heat in over crowded camps.
