A B.C. government review of BC Hydro's proposed rate increases is calling for job cuts of 1,000 workers to help slow consumer rate hikes.

The review, sparked by Premier Christy Clark”s promise to find tax relief for families, is calling for $800-million in cuts to allow rate hikes to be cut in half.

The job losses are to be phased in over three years.
