Fugitive arrested for alleged arson at estranged wife’s house

The man wanted for setting his estranged wife's house on fire in Langley and attacking her and her teenaged daughter has been arrested.

Langley RCMP Corporal Holly Marks says Andre Richard was arrested at about 9:30 Thursday morning as police in Fernie responded to reports of a possibly impaired driver.

Richard was taken into custody without incident and Langley Mounties are travelling to the East Kootenays city to speak to him.

A woman is recovering in hospital after being attacked in the bedroom of her burning home early Wednesday morning and the woman's daughter was also hurt by the same suspect – but both females were able to escape the fire, along with the woman's eight-year-old son, while the suspect disappeared.
