Treat yourself to fantastic performing arts from across Canada and around the globe at the always eclectic PuSh International Performing Arts Festival.
This weekend alone, you can catch Do You Want What I Have Got? A Craigslist Cantata – a hilarious musical by legendary broadcaster Bill Richardson and favourite local composer Veda Hille – as well as a theatrical production of Fyodor Dostoevsky's The Idiot by Neworld Theatre and fiery dance by one of Spain's most treasured flamenco groups, Soledad Barrio and Noche Flamenca.
Then at Club PuSh, the fest's cabaret-style social hub, you can take in live music by favourite Vancouver band Bend Sinister, Nicholas Krgovich and Pleasure Cruise, as well as New Zealand living legend Don McGlashan, whom New York magazine called "a consistent wonder."
Highlights next week include Boca del Lupo's Guided Tour, which takes festival-goers on a theatrical after-hours tour of the Vancouver Art Gallery; Rabih Mroué's Pixelated Revolution, a lecture-performance that explores the use of mobile phones during the Syrian Revolution; concerts by Eve Egoyan and the Turning Point Ensemble; the always-inventive Dances for a Small Stage; and Eat the Street – which has young kids dining at top eateries, then dishing out reviews.
