At least one person has been rescued by a helicopter after a mudslide in the village of Fairmont in southeastern British Columbia.
Police say there was an immediate response to the "large scale" slide that also closed parts of Highway 93 in both directions.
RCMP Constable Dan Moskaluk says crews are on site and continue to assess the situation.
The slide is in the same region as a massive landslide that wiped out three homes in the hamlet of Johnsons Landing on Kootenay Lake.
The body of one of four people missing in that slide was found on Sunday afternoon, causing the rescue mission to turn into a recovery operation.
Heavy rain and a late snow melt have caused havoc across the Kootenays this summer, with flooding and mudslides taking place as many rivers and lakes in the area reached a 40-year high.
