At Vancouver's Everett Crowley Park, transform an old dump into a green refuge by helping to plant 1,500 trees and shrubs, then take in live performances, ecological exhibits and kids' stuff ( Saturday); on Commercial Drive, join the youth-minded Earth Day Parade and Festival ( Sunday); or head for Stanley Park, where you can help weed out invasive species at Earth Day Ivy Busters ( Sunday).
In Burnaby, check out the Wildlife Rescue Association's EarthFest 2012, where you can learn how to build bird and bee houses, find out about local wildlife and pick up green living tips ( Sunday). On the other side of the strait, tell those in power where you stand at Earth Walk Victoria, a march and rally at the B.C. Legislature that comes with speakers, live music, eco groups and more ( Saturday).
If you want to help tidy the mess we humans leave behind, join forest, park and beach cleanups from Lynn Valley to Kits Beach, and from Prince George to Pemberton ( earthday.ca).
