Vancouver's fifth murder of the year is another targeted shooting.

Vancouver police say a 32-year-old man was gunned down just after midnight Firday morning and was found, critically injured, in the backyard of a home in the Fraserview neighbourhood of southeast Vancouver.

He died a short time later in hospital and officers say the victim is known to them, but it's too early to say if the slaying is linked to gangs or drugs.

On Tuesday afternoon a driver was injured after being shot in a targeted attack while driving through southeast Vancouver, but Constable Brian Montague says that shooting and Friday morning's murder do not immediately appear to be related.
