Art: Head to Chinatown to catch a show of Vancouver artist Robert Chaplin's work and be treated to a first-hand encounter with the artist himself. Mr. Chaplin is known for such unique creations as minuscule travel-sized Danish Modern chess sets (constructed with Lego bricks), bold books, murals and beautifully intricate carvings. He excels in stone and on paper and canvas. This show also marks the launch of a new book by Mr. Chaplin called Sorry I'm Not Sorry.

Design: University of British Columbia architecture, landscape architecture and environmental design students are showing their 2014 projects over the next few weeks. Catch the opening reception to see what the next wave of Vancouver designers and builders are thinking. Models, drawings, and renderings will be on display, illustrating directions and design inspirations for a new generation of professionals. This exhibition is viewable between noon and 7 p.m. daily, May 17-30.
