Sept. 4, 1985 – Convicted of sexual assault and sentenced to two years in federal prison.
1999 - Trial on charges of sexual assault and sexual interference of an eight-year-old boy from Jan. 1, 1992, and Dec. 31, 1992, according to the Cranbrook Daily Townsman. Jury could not reach a verdict and mistrial was declared.
2002 - Three-month conditional sentence for break and enter.
2003 - One-year conditional sentence for theft under $5,000.
Feb. 10, 2006 - Arrested for break-in at Finning (Canada) Tractor Branch 16 in Sparwood, B.C.
June 15, 2006 - Convicted of Finning break-in.
Aug. 17, 2006 - Given nine-month conditional sentence to be served in the community, 11 conditions imposed, DNA sample ordered, required to pay $330 in restitution.
Nov. 7 , 2007 - Arrested for break-in.
Nov. 8, 2007 - Charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence, unlawful confinement, and attempted abduction.
Jan. 25, 2008 - Pleaded guilty to breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence.
March 31, 2008 - Convicted of breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence, sentenced to 18 months in jail, three years of probation. Provincial Court Judge Ron Webb quoted in the Cranbrook Daily Townsman, said; "This charge will show up as a break and enter. It's better seen as an attempt to kidnap a vulnerable 10-year-old from his foster parents." Crown counsel told court Mr. Hopley's record included 11 previous break-in convictions.
May 16, 2010 - Arrested in a cabin in Crowsnest Pass.
May 17, 2010 - Charged with breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods; also charged with failing to comply with probation order.
May 25, 2010 - Four more charges of possession of stolen goods.
June 19, 2010 - Four more charges of stolen goods.
July 28, 2010 - Released on $1,000 bail and with conditions.
Jan. 8, 2011 - Charged with breach of undertaking or recognizance.
Apr 5, 2011 - Charged with breach of undertaking or recognizance.
April 20, 2011 - Assault of Michelle Lea McCann.
April 21, 2011 - Released on $500 bail on assault charge and charges of failure to comply with probation order and breaching undertakings on two occasions.
April 27, 2011 - Charged with third breach of undertaking or recognizance.
May 3, 2011 - $500 bail revoked, taken into custody for violation of probation order and breaches of undertaking or recognizance.
May 30, 2011 - Convicted of failure to comply with probation order and three breaches of undertaking or recognizance. Received sentence of 63 days in jail to run consecutively.
June 16, 2011 - Found guilty of assault of Ms. McCann, sentenced to two months in jail, two years probation with conditions. Sentence to run consecutively to the sentence already being served.
Sept. 7, 2011 - Break-in at Hebert home in Sparwood, three-year old Kienan kidnapped.
Sept. 14, 2011 - Charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence, and kidnapping and unlawfully detaining, enticing away or concealing a person under 14.
Sept. 27, 2011 – Date to be set in Pincher Creek, Alta., court for preliminary hearing on 12 offences related to breaking and entering, unlawfully being in dwelling and 10 counts of possession of stolen property.
