Members of the Tsawwassen First Nation have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a two mall shopping complex to be built on their land, just south of Vancouver.

Members of the Metro Vancouver band voted 97 per cent in favour of granting a long-term lease for the nearly 73-hectare parcel just off Highway 17.

The proposed mall would be one of the largest in Greater Vancouver.

Tsawwassen Chief Kim Baird says it could be open as early as 2015.
