A second day of talks is underway between the Vancouver Airport Authority and almost 350 unionized workers in an attempt to avoid a strike that could begin as early as midnight.
Travellers flying to or from Vancouver may face significant delays or even cancellations if the workers go on strike, but no updates on the progress of negotiations are available due to a media blackout.
The Public Service Alliance of Canada issued a 72-hour strike notice Tuesday morning, warning passengers to contact the airport or airlines and plan accordingly in the event of job action.
The notice came just weeks after 83 per cent of the union's members voted in favour of a strike.
The union said earlier this week the main issue is concessions that the airport wants, particularly around wages for trades people and procedures for contracting out work.
An airport spokesperson said Tuesday the facility will be fully operational this weekend, even if workers strike.
