Actor Randy Quaid has been granted his release from a Montreal-area immigration detention centre after being arrested last week.

Quaid was nabbed on Thursday in Montreal, where he's been living under the radar since January 2013.

An Immigration and Refugee Board member allowed him to be released from detention today after his father-in-law agreed to a $10,000 bond.

Quaid must abide by a number of other conditions, including keeping Canada Border Service Agency officials abreast of his whereabouts.

Sporting a massive beard and shoulder-length grey hair, Quaid says he's ready to return to the United States to face one outstanding criminal charge.

Quaid and his Canadian wife fled north of the border in 2010 claiming they were the victims of persecution.

Today's hearing was told that the actor has been living in Montreal since January 2013, when he was denied permanent residency status.

Randy Quaid is the older brother of actor Dennis Quaid and is best-known for his roles in films such as "National Lampoon's Vacation" and "Independence Day."
