A bail hearing has been adjourned again in Nova Scotia for a woman known as the "Black Widow."

Melissa Ann Weeks arrived at Sydney provincial court today in a sheriff's van, handcuffed and wearing a black-hooded jacket.

It was expected that a bail hearing would be held for the 77-year-old woman, who faces charges of attempted murder and administering a noxious thing.

However, the matter was set aside until Oct. 26 — the third adjournment in the case.

Ms. Weeks was charged after her new husband became sick at a bed and breakfast in North Sydney, N.S., last month.

She has a criminal record that includes convictions for manslaughter, theft and forgery.

She was convicted of manslaughter in the death of another husband, Gordon Stewart, who she had drugged and run over twice with a car in 1991 outside Halifax.

Ms. Weeks was also sentenced in 2005 to five years in prison on seven counts of theft from Alexander Strategos, a man in Florida she had met online.
