A Canadian Forces warship that spent more than a year at sea has returned to its home port in Halifax.

A webcam operated by the city showed HMCS Toronto arriving in Halifax harbour Thursday.

For much of the past 13 months, the ship was patrolling the Arabian Sea.

The deployment was part of an international effort aimed at curbing terrorism and deterring piracy on the high seas.

The Royal Canadian Navy says the ship was used to intercept nine drug shipments during its tour.

The frigate dropped off some crew members in St. John's earlier this week.
