Delays likely in extradition of Quebec triple murder suspect

Justin Bresaw is shown in this recent handout photo. A man wanted in connection with three deaths in northern Quebec has been captured after a police chase in Florida that involved sniffer dogs and a helicopter - and left one officer with a broken nose.

A man facing charges in connection with a triple homicide in Quebec has been captured in Florida – but may not be brought home to face justice any time soon.

Quebec provincial police say a request to have Justin Bresaw extradited is under way but it's not clear when he will be returned to Canada.

Mr. Bresaw is also facing charges related to his arrest in Florida, including resisting an officer with violence and battery on an officer.

Marc Tessier, a spokesman for Quebec provincial police, says Mr. Bresaw will first have to undergo due process in the United States.

The 35-year-old Mr. Bresaw was the subject of a Canada-wide arrest warrant and an alert by Interpol after a house fire last month in Amos, a town in northern Quebec.

He is facing first-degree murder charges in relation to the two men and a woman found dead in the home.

After eluding police for more than two weeks, Mr. Bresaw was spotted in Tallahassee, Fla shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday charging a laptop in an electrical outlet behind a church.

Mr. Bresaw gave a false name to police at first and managed to flee the scene after giving his real name.

An officer who tried to arrest Mr. Bresaw was left with a gash on his face and a broken nose after he fell into a metal support beam during a tussle.

Mr. Bresaw was eventually tracked down three hours later, hiding underneath a house. Police dogs and a helicopter were used to find him.
