Welcome to the eleventh edition of our ever popular Canadian University Report.
Our goal this year is two-fold: to inform and to assist high school students, parents and educators engaged – right now – in the decision making process of choosing a university and program; and, to offer some unique insights into the future direction of postsecondary learning in an era of constant technological and social change.
Our feature series on what a university experience might look like in just a few years is anchored by writer Erin Millar’s fascinating look at the university classroom in 2020. Is all learning destined to be done online, or is the allure and value of face-to-face learning too strong to get rid of the classroom? I know you’ll find it thought-provoking to read what the experts on university education have to say.
For those making big decisions this year (and for those helping them), we offer a variety of stories about how to get the most out of your university experience both inside and outside the classroom. We’ve placed an extra emphasis on what paths and programs experts believe will best prepare you for that unclear but inevitable post university career.
And, of course, we offer loads of practical university living advice.
Once again, we present our comprehensive survey of undergraduate satisfaction (seeded throughout the magazine and available online at tgam.ca/education) in collaboration with our survey partner Higher Education Strategy Associates. You can read about the methodology behind it on Page 4.
