There were no serious injuries in a collision between a semi tractor-trailer unit and a Canadian Pacific freight train near Foam Lake, Sask.

The collision on Wednesday afternoon did cause about eight cars to derail, though RCMP say there are no environmental concerns.

They say the only apparent spill is a small quantity of potash from one of the boxcars.

The collision took place just off the Yellowhead highway.

RCMP say the empty tractor-trailer unit was dragged about 180 metres down the line.

The 66-year old driver and lone occupant of the semi unit did not suffer any serious injuries.

Both the driver and train personnel were examined at the scene by EMS.

Charges against the driver are pending.
