A radio station in Saskatchewan says instructors at the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology may undertake job action at the start of the school year to back contract talks.

CKBI in Prince Albert says it's obtained documents from the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees Union that indicate picket captains are being selected at SIAST campuses in Saskatoon, Regina, Moose Jaw and Prince Albert.

A spokesman for the SGEU says the union is not prepared to discuss the document.

The instructors previously rejected the college's final offer of a 5.5 per cent wage increase over three years.

Mediated contract talks broke down in January with the union stating that it had made concessions and that the provincial government was directing the college's position from behind the scenes.

The union has been in a legal strike position since last November.
