A B.C. Supreme Court jury in Kelowna yesterday convicted a man in the rape and strangulation of a 61-year-old woman. Ronald Fowler, 37, shook his head but remained silent as the jury found him guilty of the first-degree murder and sexual assault of Diana Russell.
Ms. Russell, the grandmother of Mr. Fowler’s young son, was attacked and strangled in her home in February, 2002. Mr. Fowler gets an automatic life sentence, but a hearing will be held March 22 to determine parole eligibility.
