The weekend arrest of a suspected impaired driver in Halifax has led to the discovery of a marijuana grow-op in a home.

The Mounties say officers observed an impaired driver on the Beaver Bank Road early Saturday morning and turned on the cruiser's lights and siren but the accused didn't stop.

The driver eventually pulled into a residence on the Beaver Bank Road and ran into a concrete barrier in the driveway.

As he was being arrested for impaired driving, police found hydroponic growing items inside the vehicle and could smell fresh marijuana inside the garage.

Officers seized marijuana, marijuana plants and growing equipment from the garage.

A 23-year-old male will appear in court at later a date.
