Colonel Russell Williams.

As the country looked on in horror this week, an Ontario courtroom heard chilling details of Colonel Russell Williams's gruesome crimes.

The colonel, who was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for killing two women, among other offences, was both a murderous sexual predator and a rising military star.

"The terrifying ease with which the murderous colonel could resume his pose as a normal human being on the heels of committing two savage sex killings only underscored hours of searing court evidence so graphic and disgusting that it left many in the packed courtroom weeping," wrote The Globe's Timothy Appleby and Greg McArthur.

Mr. Appleby covered Col. Williams's sentencing hearing in Belleville, Ont., this week. He is also writing a book about the case entitled Monster in Uniform . On Friday, Mr. Appleby took your questions on the case.
