Toronto piano teacher charged with sexually assaulting 8-year-old

A 76-year-old piano teacher is in custody charged with repeatedly sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl at his home.

Hassan Mehrpouya was arrested Thursday and charged with sexual interference, sexual exploitation, sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching and exposing himself to a person under the age of 14.

Court records show that there have been previous complaints about Mr. Mehrpouya, also involving juveniles.

He has been teaching piano at his north Toronto home for about 14 years and it's suspected there may be other victims, police said.

Mr. Mehrpouya had a court appearance scheduled for Friday.
