Quebec provincial police say two people have died in the crash of an ultra-light aircraft west of Montreal.

The accident occurred in Saint-Lazare.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is sending a team of investigators to the site.

Police spokeswoman Ingrid Asselin says the plane crashed in a field near an airport.

The cause of the accident is still unknown.
