Two people have been arrested and a third is being sought after police say their 23-year-old roommate was attacked and forcibly confined to the Whitby, Ont., home they shared.

Police say the three suspects confronted the man Monday morning asking for rent money they had loaned him.

It's alleged they assaulted him, at one point with a broken bottle and a kitchen knife, and confined him to the home.

Police say the man told the suspects he had an appointment with social services and could get the money then.

They say two of the suspects drove him to the appointment, at which point the man asked an employee to call police.

Kevin Marrast, 33, and Keshia Lafond-Carter, 24, of Whitby, are charged with break and enter with intent to commit; assault; forcible confinement; and kidnapping. Marrast is also charged with uttering death threats and two counts of assault with a weapon.

A warrant has been issued for Eon Charles, 37, of Whitby.
