A northwest B.C. woman is planning an awareness walk next month for the women who are missing along the so-called "highway of tears."

Florence Naziel, 56, of Moricetown plans to walk from Prince Rupert to Terrace on Highway 16, starting March 11.

The daughter of one of her cousins is among the eight women who are missing, seven of them aboriginal.

The issue got national attention over the weekend when the Native Women's Association of Canada held a memorial in Ottawa and called for an inquiry into the disappearances. CP
