On June 7, U.S. Marine Corps Captain William Mahoney had to perform a vertical landing on the USS Bataan, part of the US Sixth Fleet, after his AV-8B Harrier aircraft experienced a front landing gear malfunction. This video shows Mahoney landing his craft on a raised and cushioned ‘stool’ on the deck of the USS Bataan.
